The other day I spotted on TV a commercial for BlackPeopleMeet.com prompted me to do a profile and registration review as there aren’t many ratings online. It wasn’t surprsing to me to see this commercial as I saw the commercial for Ourtime.com. Both BlackPeopleMeet.com and Ourtime.com is owned by People Media who was acquired by Match.com in 2009. According to their website, they add anywhere from 20,000 people join their sites each day. Blackpeoplemeet.com brings me back memories of BlackPlanet.com. It was a place where blacks can get together and connect. It was the first of social media. Blackpeoplemeet.com allows people who are interested in meeting people with similar interests and personality.
Registration:
Registration was very easy. It is very similar to Match.com and probably exactly the same as Ourtime.com. In less than 5 min. I was in and able to browse through profiles and perform search against other profiles.
Search:Blackpeoplemeet.com search is very simple as well. It allows you to search for Male / Female, age range, zip code or state, limit profiles with greeting, video, photos, audio, or personality test. It also allows you to select between thumbnail style or gallery style. If you click on advanced search, you get marital status, ethnicity, relationship expectation, zodiac, smoking preference, height preference, general (physical) build, children, and religion.
As are most online dating sites that claim to be free, once you make an attempt to send a message or reach our via ‘pokes’, ‘likes’, or ‘I am interested’ links, it will direct you to their sign up page to become a paid member. Similar to Ourtime.com, the fees are not as high as sites such as eHarmony or Match.com. In fact they are very reasonable.
I’d give it two thumbs up. It is a site that is very easy to navigate and it is very easy to find pictures. I am in Los Angeles and find plenty of people that interest me. Give it a try!
