You can now add Perfectmatch.com to this list.
I didn’t see this one coming. The latest acquisition was Match.com purchasing OkCupid earlier this year. Friendfinder owns several dating website which is on our top 10 list. What does this mean for Perfectmatch.com? Only time will tell. It seems the trend is large dating website buying smaller ones. Soon, will we be left with just a handful?
Dr. Neil Clark Warren, founder of eHarmony.com wrote a piece on Huffington Post pleading people seeking to get married to “Have a second thought”. The title of the article was clearly intended to raise eyebrows and stir up controversy. How can the founder of a dating website who prides in the number of marriages based on their compatibility formula be advocating against marriage?
If you read the article in its entirely, this is simply not true. Dr. Warren is actually doing the opposite, he is emphasizing the importance of finding the right person for the right reason based on, you guessed it, compatibility. Dr. Warren writes about a sad trend that for the first time in U.S. history, statistics released by U.S. Census Bureau show that fewer than half of the households are married. This can be due to several reasons which Dr. Warren does not get into. He does get into why some marriages end up in divorce with choosing the wrong person to marry as his argument. He explains that getting a divorce is such a painful experience from his witnessing hundreds of people go through this.
Dr. Warren has a great point. With the fast lifestyle and media and celebrities portraying marriage as some sort of a removable badge it is no surprise that people don’t take marriage seriously.
There are some things that pay off in life by being patient and take the time. Relationships is one of them.

Today, IAC, parent company of Match.com, announced that they have acquired OKCupid for $50million cash. OKCupid is another up and rising free online dating site. The focus on OKCupid is towards the younger crowd using ad revenue to sustain its business. It will be interesting to see how Match.com transforms and takes advantage of OKCupid’s member base.
“OkCupid has been a real innovator in our space, and the dating environment they’ve created has struck a chord with a younger demographic. ” said Greg Blatt, CEO of IAC, in a press release. “We know that many people who start out on advertising-based sites ultimately develop an appetite for the broader feature set and more committed community, which subscription sites like Match.com.”
Is this a match made in heaven? We’ll see.
There has been an increase of scammers targeting women on online dating sites. The scammers create profiles on Facebook and online dating sites and portray themselves as member of the U.S. military. After they befriend you, they begin asking for money to be wired citing the need to ship boxes back from the Middle East. Here is the Facebook page dedicated to raise awareness. We here at onlinedatingranking.net want to raise this issue and for the community to be aware. You should NEVER be asked to send over money from anyone you meet online no matter what.
